10-things-that-dont-make-sense-in-digimon-world-next-order

Digimon World: Next Order has a few things that don’t quite make sense.

Digimon World: Next Order is a spiritual successor to the first Digimon World. It brings back pet simulator gameplay to the series, but also adds a lot of new features, graphics, and trainable Digimon. You even get a second partner to raise and bond with, which adds even more fun to the game.

But like any imaginary world, Digimon has many things that don’t make sense and make you wonder what the game’s creators were thinking when they made it. These strange things can even make the story and game systems feel a little less rewarding. Because they take your attention away from the parts that were thought out well.

Why Don’t NPC Digimon Die?

Why Don't NPC Digimon Die?

The gameplay of Next Order is built around the death and return of your two partner Digimon. You will often feel sad when your favourite Digivolutions turn back into eggs. That you have to raise again and again.

The fact that almost every other NPC Digimon stays healthy no matter how long you mess around cheapens this cycle more than anything else. This means that your friends can die over and over again while even the least important NPC stays the same. Why not give other Digimon a cycle in which they go through different steps of evolution? This would make it seem more likely that time is affecting everyone.

Why Are They Saying Machinedramon Wrong?

Why Are They Saying Machinedramon Wrong?

In the English dub of Digimon World: Next Order, the voice artists often say the second “A” in “Machinedramon” in a strange way, like the word “bay” instead of “hydra.” Before this point in the series, Machinedramon was always called like the latter in English dubs.

It would be easy to say that this is because localization is hard, but since so much old media has done a good job of establishing how to say the Machine Digimon’s name. It seems more like a lack of care for one of the most popular Digimon in the series’ past.

Why Is There A Bed In The Training Hall?

Why Is There A Bed In The Training Hall?

If you’ve been to a gym before, you might not remember a bunk bed in the area for people to use. However, the creators of Next Order seem to think that workouts should be followed by naps on the gym’s furniture.

This bed is replaced by two chambers when you upgrade the training hall, but it’s strange that it was here in the first place. Since the rest choice during training makes your Digimon fall asleep in the middle of the floor. This conflict between two different kinds of sitting could have been avoided by making this first stage a temporary table for drinks.

Why Do Hostile Digimon Attack You?

Why Do Hostile Digimon Attack You?

The main puzzle you’re trying to solve is why Digimon keep turning into Machinedramon and attacking the people of the digital world. What you don’t know is why normal Digimon are always trying to fight you as you explore the wilderness.

Most of the time, these monsters are shown to be intelligent and able to talk to you and to each other. If they can’t tell you why they want to fight, it doesn’t make sense for them to chase you down and fight you. If these Digimon were wild animals, it would be easy to understand, but many of the ones you meet in the game also have NPC versions that show they can think for themselves.

Why Don’t You Need To Take Care Of Yourself?

Why Don't You Need To Take Care Of Yourself?

After you first break open the eggs of your two best friends, you’ll have to feed, praise. And train them every second to make them live longer and keep them happy. But why are you no longer hungry or tired?

Since the game is mostly about being the best master you can be, it makes sense that player status was left out to keep the focus on Spacebar Clicker game. But you spend so much time exploring the world with your Digimon that you start to wonder why your partners have to eat and go to the toilet while you can go weeks without having to use your digestive system.

Why Do You Need A Portable Toilet?

Why Do You Need A Portable Toilet?

Even though it’s clear what the Portable Toilet is for, any dog owner will tell you that it’s better to bring a couple of bags than to bring the whole toilet with you everywhere. Since the Portable Toilet is meant to be used in the wild and doesn’t even look like an enclosed area. There’s no real reason why it couldn’t be replaced by some toilet paper and a plastic bag.

Even worse, enemy and NPC Digimon can walk through the woods for days without using one of these. Which makes you wonder if your character just doesn’t like the idea of having to pick up their own trash.

Why Are Battles Restricted To A Small Space?

Why Are Battles Restricted To A Small Space?

In real-time RPGs like Next Order, the point of putting a wall around a fighting area is to give you a line to cross if you want to run away from it. These invisible walls can also stop you from running or using hitboxes during important, unavoidable fights. Even though Next Order is a real-time role-playing game. This feature doesn’t make sense for how you actually fight in battles.

Since you don’t really control your partners directly during battles, putting a barrier around the space doesn’t limit you in any way. Even if the developers wanted to lock the AI to a certain area, there’s no reason to show you where that space begins and ends, since you have no control over how Digimon move around the field.

Why Must Digimon Be Coerced To Use Good Moves?

Why Must Digimon Be Coerced To Use Good Moves?

In games where you have full control over your character during fight. The choice to use powerful attacks is entirely up to you and is valid no matter what you choose. But when your smart Digimon partners are in charge. It can be especially annoying that they only use their strongest moves when told to.

Most of the time, you can’t make them use these moves until they have enough Order Power. You get Order Power by helping them when they hit or get hit in fight. Why do they bring you with them to a fight. If they won’t listen to your advice until you’ve cheered them on enough?

Why Is Transportation So Poor?

Why Is Transportation So Poor?

In a world where everything is digital, where you can easily store a lot of big things in your inventory. And where tools can be built to make new dimensions. It’s hard to believe that transportation is the only area where technology hasn’t changed.

Instead of riding a bike or vehicle through the wilderness. It seems like everyone either walks or is taken where they need to go by a Sender. This means that you can carry multiple easy-use toilets from place to place. But you can’t visit Bony Resort without spending the whole day there.

Why Can’t You Get New Partners?

Why Can't You Get New Partners?

Even though it’s an interesting idea to raise the same partners from eggs over and over again. It’s nonsense that you can’t make new relationships with Digimon you meet in different parts of the world. Since the world is in danger, there’s no reason why as many monsters as possible shouldn’t work together to stop the Machinedramon threat.

This would have been great for the game, too. Because it would have let you get close to important characters and mix and match gameplay styles. In the game as it is now, you can’t move forward if your partners are at different stages of growth. Why can’t you get a new partner like the other characters?
